The first center we went to was the ship center. The ship was a replica of a Spanish ship. In the ship’s kitchen we pretended to cook fake food like eggs, radishes, carrots, and rutabaga. We also tried to make rubber hooks that could be used for anchors or sails. We got to fish and caught fake fish with magnets. At the top of the ship we fired cannon balls. Andrew, Tanner, DJ, and Jordan got hit with the cannon balls.
The second place we went was a house center. We could make our own houses out of wooden blocks and recycled plastic blocks. We could draw pictures of our dream house. It could be a castle if you wanted it to be.
In the health center we brushed a monkey’s teeth. At least some people thought it was a monkey. Some people thought it was a dinosaur. Other people thought it was a person who looked like a monkey. It had a broken tooth. We listened to our stomach growl. There was a bike you could ride. When you rode it, it showed a skeleton that moved with your body. If you peddled forward, the skeleton’s legs peddled forward. If you peddled backward the skeleton’s legs peddled backward. Some people peddled too fast for the skeleton to keep up.
We went on a scavenger hunt and looked for different things like fire fighter symbols and a skeleton head. The best part of the scavenger hunt was an eye spy game.
We made a bird feeder that was a pine cone dipped in peanut butter. Arreunna didn’t get to make one because she is allergic to peanut butter. She got to play on the slides while we made the feeder. She was the only one who got to play on the slides.
After we went through the Children’s Museum we put on our bathing suits. Some of the boys played football in the field by the fountains. Some people played in the fountains. The girls made forts on the beach, built sandcastles, and used sand to turn Arreunna into a mermaid. Some of the students saw a dolphin swimming in the river.
It was a fun trip. We are glad we got to go. It was great to go with Mrs. Mull and the fourth graders.
Love, the third grade class.
